SMOKED PAPRIKA AND SHERRY VINEGAR BBQ SAUCE

Smoked Paprika and Sherry Vinegar BBQ Sauce

This is a recipe for a smoked paprika and sherry vinegar BBQ sauce. As the name suggests, it is a BBQ sauce for an adventurous type. It’s a bit more grown up than the kinds of things you’ll find at fast food restaurants and diners, so be aware (but excited). I came up with this recipe based purely on things I had in my refrigerator at the time, so it could be a good base for your own BBQ sauce explorations. If you try this one out and feel the sherry vinegar is a bit too strong for you, you can sub in something else (or just reduce the amount) the next time around. This makes a little bit less than a cup of sauce.

It is extremely easy to make and therefore there will be very few recipe notes here. It’s got a strong acidic bite, so you’ll want to use it sparingly on any burgers you pair it with. The smoked paprika contributes a nice depth and a smoky spice; you could amp that up a bit if you’d like something richer. Although I’ve called this a “BBQ” sauce, I also strongly encourage its use as a regular dipping sauce, particularly for fries. It’s a low risk adventure into making your own BBQ sauce; from ingredient assembly to consumption takes roughly 10 minutes. Enjoy.
